"Ecologies of Design"

The series explores the interconnected systems, methodologies and social, cultural, and environmental contexts of architectural design. How does design consider the interrelated, dynamic, and evolving relationships between humans, and living and non-living entities, between material, infrastructural, urban, and ecological networks?

Mónica Rivera is chair of graduate architecture and the JoAnne Stolaroff Cotsen Professor of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis. She is the co-founder and co-director of Emiliano López Mónica Rivera Arquitectos, based in Barcelona, Spain. Their practice is internationally known for material research and carefully crafted works that understand architecture as a cultural endeavor that is deeply engaged with people and the environment.
