Comunicando los CliMAS in Multiple Languages

In 1970, the U.S. Weather Bureau reported the first instance of casualties related to language barriers during extreme weather events. More than 50 years later, the weather, water, and enterprise has yet to develop a multilingual emergency system for the 69 million Americans that do not speak English at home. In this special seminar, Joseph Trujillo-Falcón presents his pioneering work in the multilingual weather communication space. Integrating human fieldwork and population surveys, Joseph showcases powerful examples of how social science research can advance both science and society at the same time.
