Civic Pathways Engaging Students in Local Government and Community Advocacy

Adani Sanchez, Champaign City Planning Commission and (C)Urbanism
Adani is a resident of Champaign and plan commissioner who was excited to live in a walkable city and decided to start a group with Kathy to keep talking about it.
Kathy Shannon, Champaign City Council and (C)Urbamism
Kathy is a passionate advocate for better urbanism, housing, and bike infrastructure who ran for office to turn her idealism into reality.
Rhonda Kirts, League of Women Voters
Rhonda joined the League in 2019 and is involved with the Youth Outreach and Civic Engagement Team. She retired from the University of Illinois where she worked in the Office of the Dean of Students. Rhonda has also served as a Champaign County Election Judge.
Kimberly Wilson, Public Interest Law Foundation
Kimberly Wilson is currently a second-year law student at the University of Illinois College of Law. Kimberly is the current president of the Public Interest Law Foundation at the College of Law, a student organization which facilitates students giving back to the community through various legal initiatives. Kimberly is also a proud double Illini, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2021.

Abby is president of IGNITE@UIUC, and a former intern at the White House's Office of Digital Strategy. She is a self-described goverment and technology enthusiast, and seeks to bridge innovation with impact and positive change.
