Title: A friendly introduction to Galois representations

Abstract: Galois representations have become a major tool for understanding modular forms modulo a prime p. However, they are also a very abstract and complicated tool since they lie at the intersection of number theory, representation theory, and algebra, which can be intimidating to analytic number theorists such as myself. In this talk, I will show some of the concrete results that we can get from Galois representations. This talk will be largely computational in nature and motivated by examples.
