Title: The cotangent complex formalism
Speaker: Langwen Hui
Abstract: The cotangent complex of commutative rings was introduced by André and Quillen as the non-abelian derived functor of Kahler differentials. It produces a "homology theory" of rings and contains important information about their deformation theory. More recently, a spectral version of cotangent complexes has been defined for E_\infty and E_n rings.
In this talk, I will give an introduction to the cotangent formalism in the derived and spectral settings. Time permitting, I will discuss some applications thereof.
