Algebra, Geometry, and Combinatorics Seminar

Evolution occurs in populations of reproducing individuals. The structure of a population can affect evolutionary trajectories. Evolutionary graph theory is a framework for modeling evolutionary dynamics with population structure. In this framework, individuals occupy vertices and edges denote possible interactions. During this survey talk, I will discuss key quantities in evolutionary dynamics such as fixation probability and fixation time, describe how certain of graph families affect these quantities, and classify the computational complexity of approximating such quantities in various scenarios.
