Join us to learn more about the Recreation, Sport, and Tourism Economics study abroad program in Croatia! The study tour will take place during the last two weeks of May 2024 and is open to students in any major.
As part of the program, you will experience first-hand why Croatia is a rapidly rising top tourism destination with beautiful coastline, storied cities, bucolic mountains, castles, delicious cuisine, forests, and more! Tourism and recreational activities comprise close to 10% of global GDP and can be a development tool for poverty reduction in emerging economies with social and environmental significance. This experiential learning opportunity will introduce students to the fundamentals of economics in tourism and recreation through site visits and meetings with government officials, businesses, academics studying these topics in Croatia, and local tourism leaders. Topics include consumer demand, firms, markets, investment, and global interactions related to the recreation and tourism industry. Additional attention is devoted to issues of environmental impacts and sustainability.
