In the last 10 million years, two supernovae have exploded at distances that allowed their remnants to engulf the solar system and shower Earth with their debris. By delving into the geologic record, we can find traces of these events in the form of live (un-decayed) radioactive isotopes. Analysis of these signals has allowed us to extract key supernova properties, such as the duration of the debris fallout on Earth and a distance range to the progenitor.For this defense, I will discuss the extent of the supernova-produced radioactive signals detected on Earth and the Moon, as well as their astronomical implications. The observed fallout timescale is an order of magnitude larger than expected from conventional supernova shock fronts, which has significant ramifications on the remnant's dust dynamics.
