Classical shadows for Quantum Tomography
Abstract: The use of classical shadows has been gaining popularity as a method to perform quantum tomography and predict properties of a quantum state or channel. Each shadow is an approximate classical representations of a quantum state and provides strong analytical tools to bound sample complexity. In this talk, I will present an introduction to classical shadows, including a broad overview of their usage and the newest developments for quantum state tomography. Then I will describe our recent work at Illinois on extending classical shadows for quantum process tomography, as well as the interesting open questions that remain.
This talk is intended for local QIS researchers at the University of Illinois; please do not share it more broadly.
