11:00am, Lijun Liu, Geology, Structure and Evolution of the Continental Lithosphere
Continents are considered buoyant tectonic units that have been passively drifting at Earth’s surface since their formation in the geological past. However, many lines of evidence suggest that the seemingly stable continents actually deformed and evolved over time. Professor Liu will investigate this paradox and its implications on Earth’s environmental changes.
