Abstract:
We introduce Nakamoto consensus and discuss the efficiency challenges of conventional Proof-of-Work-based solutions like Bitcoin. We then discuss the Proof of Stake paradigm and outline the design and analysis of blockchains such as Ouroboros, that provide provable consistency and liveness in this setting.
