Co-sponsored by the Unit for Criticism and the Environmental Humanities Research Cluster, and the American Indian Studies Program, the PhD Program in Architecture and Landscape Architecture hosts a keynote lecture by Hi'ilei Julia Hobart as part of the doctoral symposium "Creativity in Modern Heritage." Hi'ilei Julia Hobart is Assistant Professor of Native and Indigenous Studies at Yale University and author of Cooling the Tropics: Ice, Indigeneity, and Hawaiian Refreshment (Duke University Press, 2022). The lecture takes place in Plym Auditorium, Temple Hoyne Buell Hall, with a reception following in the TBH atrium and exterior patio.

Following the reception, starting at 1:00 PM, Kate Holliday (Architecture & Landscape Architecture, UIUC) will lead "What Is a Campus?" A Historical Walking Tour, meeting at Mumford House, just north of the TBH building. This tour is organized as part of the Sawyer Seminar's Event Series, At Risk U: the Past, Present & Future of Academic Freedom.

At 2:30 PM, we will reconvene in a seminar room (TBH 225) for paper presentations by the following speakers: Mania Taher (Industrial Design, UIUC), Pollyanna Rhee (Landscape Architecture, UIUC), Colter E. Wehmeier (Informatics, UIUC), Sharayah Cochran (Art History, UIUC), and Tinghao Zhou (Film and Media Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara).
