In my talk, I will present the preliminary findings from surveys of rural science teachers and explore how the demographic insights, alongside prior research, are informing my upcoming AER journal paper. I will also discuss the qualitative methods used for analyzing teacher interviews and highlight specific examples of effective (or, in two cases, ineffective) educational strategies currently employed. Finally, I will synthesize these findings to propose actionable next steps for our department to design targeted, collaborative outreach initiatives aimed at supporting rural communities.
