AbstractQuantum secret sharing describes the splitting of a secret quantum state into separate shares held by different parties such that specific groups of parties can work together to recover the information. Traditionally, all parties in a secret sharing scheme are considered equal stakeholders, but this does not reflect many real scenarios in which quantum secret sharing may be useful. I will introduce and motivate quantum secret sharing, present a technique to determine desirable secret sharing schemes, and show how this technique can be used to generalize schemes in which the cooperation of a particularly powerful party, called the helper, is sufficient to recovering the encoded information.
