Title: Hybrid Integration of Diamond Color Centers with Nanophotonic Devices

Abstract: Quantum networks powered by single photons carrying information at high speeds and with low noise are destined to play a central role in quantum information technologies. Currently, the probabilistic nature of photon operations strongly limits the bandwidth of quantum networks.  Hybrid on-chip assembly of nanoscale devices from growth-wise incompatible materials can enable functional and high-speed quantum photonic systems. In particular, active quantum components such as on-demand, high-speed sources of single photons can be realized by deterministically transferring nanodiamond-based quantum emitters onto established photonic platforms. Nanodiamond-based color centers are uniquely compatible with plasmonic nanostructures, enhancing rate of spontaneous emission. This promises near-THz clock rates at cryo-free temperatures. However, the heterogenous nature of these emitters hamper the scalability of this approach. We will discuss methods for improving the uniformity of emitter properties and rapidly pre-selecting them, paving the way to a scalable integration process.
