Quantum Acoustics with SNAIL and released mechanical resonator
The mechanical resonator, due to its frequency falling within the microwave range while its wavelength resides in the telecom range, is considered a highly competitive candidate for a microwave-to-optical transducer. In this talk, I will introduce our design of mechanical thickness mode on suspended AlN thin film, and how to couple it with a qubit or a SNAIL. Utilizing the third-order nonlinearity of SNAIL, we are able to achieve a strong effective coupling between the mechanical mode and the SNAIL, enabling us to conduct some unique experiments.
