A distinguished jurist and longtime advocate for equal justice, Chief Justice Neville is committed to making Illinois Courts serve as “a national model” that safeguards equal justice for all, regardless of identity, geography, or resources.

About Chief Justice Neville
Chief Justice P. Scott Neville, Jr. is the 123rd Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court and the second Black Chief Justice in Illinois history. He has served on the Illinois Supreme Court since 2018. He previously served on the Illinois Appellate Court as well as the Circuit Court of Cook County. Over the course of Chief Justice Neville's 52-year legal career he has worked with public and private entities, held leadership roles in numerous bar and judicial organizations, and received awards and appointments in recognition of his service and leadership. A product of Chicago's public schools, he earned his undergraduate degree from Culver-Stockton College and his law degree from Washington University School of Law.
