Cash bar available.ACES and Illinois 4-H are excited to welcome you to a special event at the Eckert's Cider Shed for an evening of exceptional food, meaningful conversation, and a behind‑the‑scenes look at one of Illinois’ most visited family‑owned farms. You’ll have the chance to explore the grounds on guided tours through the orchard, discover what’s currently in season, and learn more about Eckert’s operations and their commitment to agritourism.
Optional Pre-Event Wagon Tour
Guided wagon tours of Eckert's renowned orchards will begin promptly at 5:15 p.m. and last approximately 30 minutes. Guests wishing to participate should arrive before the 5:15 p.m. departure. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and networking, followed by remarks at 6:00 p.m. Event registration is required to participate in the wagon tours.
Bat Signals: What Bats Reveal About Forests, Farms, and Cities
Hear remarks from distinguished researcher and ACES Natural Resources & Environmental Sciences (NRES) faculty member Dr. Joy O'Keefe, highlighting how bats use and impact forests, agricultural areas, and urban spaces. She’ll give examples of the ways she connects Extension, research, and hands-on learning to provide fruitful experiences for students in NRES and ACES.

Illini Roots, Homegrown Flavor
Owned and operated by proud Illini—including President Chris (ACES ’94), VP of Retail Operations Angie (ACES ’94), and VP of Food Service Jill (LAS ’91)—Eckert’s Belleville location showcases a rich variety of seasonal produce, flowers, and attractions, from apples and peaches to tulips and even Christmas trees. The Cider Shed features the farm’s full line of handcrafted hard ciders made from fruit grown right on the property.
