Roots to Roux to Rhythm brings culture, creativity, and community together for an evening that engages all the senses. Hosted by BNAACC alongside the UIC Black Cultural Center and the UIS Diversity Center, the event takes place at the Illini Courtyard from 4:00 to 7:30 PM. The program features live music by Yanna Cello, thoughtful conversation led by Professor Bobby J. Smith II, and flavorful culinary elements curated by Chef Carrie Anderson. Together, these performances and discussions highlight the deep connections between Black history, foodways, and artistic expression in a space meant for gathering, learning, and celebrating.
