Explore the depth and diversity of American quilting in this interactive, hands-on workshop. Participants will learn how quilting traditions developed across the United States—from early scrap quilts made from worn clothing and household fabrics, to community-building quilting bees and friendship quilts, to distinctive regional styles such as Hawaiian appliqué quilts and minimalist Amish designs. The workshop will also introduce several traditional quilt blocks and the meanings and symbolism associated with them, including stars, log cabins, and other iconic patterns.
The session features a trunk show showcasing 15–20 quilts ranging from traditional to modern styles, offering a close look at different techniques, color choices, and design approaches.
After the presentation and trunk show, participants will create their own fabric star ornament to take home. No sewing experience is required, and all materials will be provided.
This workshop is free and open to all, and snacks will be available. Registration highly encouraged.
