Building codes, such as ASME 2019 and IBC 2018/2021, now require advanced elevator communication systems, enabling operators to communicate audibly, send text messages, and view video images of the elevator floor during entrapments. These changes are especially critical for government and educational facilities, where accessibility, security, and compliance are top priorities.
Additionally, as analog lines are phased out, facilities teams must also navigate new risks tied to digital systems like VoIP and cellular, including network reliability and cybersecurity. This session will explore best practices for future-proofing elevator communication systems, managing vendor access risks, and ensuring continuous compliance through proactive diagnostics and automated testing. Attendees will leave with practical strategies to reduce liability, support compliance, and modernize systems with confidence.
