The College of ACES and the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) will soon accept proposals for joint research projects of up to $50,000 per proposal ($25,000 per proposal per year for up to two years) under the below-listed research lines of CLIMATE CHANGE and BIOECONOMY.

ACES faculty are invited to a matchmaking call to meet with prospective Embrapa collaborators on December 3 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

ACES faculty will give 5-minute mini-presentations via Zoom about their interests related to the CLIMATE CHANGE research lines listed below. Embrapa researchers will also give 5-minute mini-presentations, and then participants will be invited to breakout rooms for separate discussions based on interests.

Additional matchmaking calls will be held for the BIOECONOMY research lines and for the CLIMATE CHANGE research lines again as needed. 

CLIMATE CHANGE: 

1.1 Increase the adaptive capacity and resilience of agricultural production systems with the greatest projected economic impact and relevance for food security based on climate change scenarios.

1.2 Promote the mitigation and management of climate risk and resilience in Brazil/US agriculture to address the biotic and abiotic stresses intensified by climate change.

1.3 Control greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, promoting adaptation benefits for Brazil/US agricultural, livestock, agroforestry and forestry and their integrated systems.

BIOECONOMY: 

2.1 Increase energy efficiency and bioenergy production from cultivated biomass and/or agricultural waste.

2.2 Diversify the matrix of lipid sources for industrial use with added value to the co-products generated. 

2.3 Enable the use of biomass and/or CO2 emitted in agricultural activities following the principles of the circular economy.
