TITLE: "Optimal Inverter Topologies for High-Frequency Low-Inductance Motors"
ABSTRACT: Electric vehicle and aviation applications require high-power-density motors and associated power electronics. Slotless machines are known to attain high power densities, but lead to rather low per phase inductances. A low inductance entails a need for additional filtering between the inverter and motor, reducing the power density of the inverter and machine system. Moreover, the DC link capacitor of the inverter contributes added mass and increases the volume requirements of the system. We present the inverter topologies that minimize the output filtering element impacts as well as those of the input DC link capacitor to attain the desired high-power densities.

TITLE: "A Proposed Hybrid Switched-Capacitor Converter Design"
ABSTRACT: Key objectives in many modern power electronic applications, including those for data center power delivery, are the attainment of high efficiency and high conversion step-down converters with a small form factor. The intermediate bus architecture (IBA) introduces the need to step down the voltage from 48 V to either a 12- or a 6-V transitional bus or, in some cases, as low as to 1- or 2-V level. To meet the required high-efficiency and high-conversion goals, hybrid switched-capacitor converter designs have produced desirable results, with good power density maintained. We present a proposed hybrid switched-capacitor converter design and discuss its performance and the pros and cons of its implementation.
