University of Illinois Web Conference Events

Description:
Developing beautiful and easy to use websites and mobile applications oftentimes requires iterative development based upon user engagement and feedback. Additionally, some functionality may require collecting, processing and/or storing data about individual users. These data may be personal in nature and require special considerations, and in some cases the data or the individual may be protected by policies and regulations. This presentation will cover some of the basic requirements for developing web applications that monitor and/or collect private and sensitive personal information. In addition, the presentation will explore and recommend ethical practices related to the Privacy by Design principles.

Topics will include relevant policies (GDPR, CCPA, FERPA, HIPAA, etc.), technology (Global Privacy Control, Anonymization, Encryption, Tokenization), and principles (privacy by design, data minimization & microservices, dark patterns, federated learning, etc.). In addition, the workshop will preview upcoming privacy related changes with the new Google Analytics 4 platform.
