Creating a Positive Learning Climate

Today’s learners come to us with a variety of experiences, perspectives, and expectations that differ from previous generations. This presentation introduces an educational approach designed to respect those differences and promote more positive and satisfying learner-educator interactions. Participants will learn the foundational invitational principles and strategies for incorporating the approach into educational encounters.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the three foundational principles of the educational approach
  • Describe the five elements of the TORIC framework
  • Select one invitational strategy to apply in an upcoming learning encounter

Speaker:

Jill M. Weber, Ph.D. Dr. Weber is the Director of Communication, Office of Graduate Medical Education and is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Sciences Education and Pathology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria
