Abstract
Emerging contaminants are unregulated chemicals found in the environment; however, it is not known if they have negative impacts on ecosystems or human health. Common examples of emerging contaminants include pharmaceuticals, personal care products, microplastics, and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center has been active in this area of research over the past fifteen years with a focus on measurement, monitoring, fate, transport, and remediation of emerging contaminants. Several current projects addressing PFAS and microplastics will be discussed.
This seminar will be held in ISWS' Illinois Room (201). The seminar hosts are Vlad Iordache and Zhang Zhenxing.
Seminar session 11:00-12:15 pm.
A pizza lunch will be served by the SAC group from 12:15 to 1:30 pm. Register here: https://forms.gle/prnjs1giPDX1xmW16.
