"Trauma Informed OB/GYN: From Theory to Practice" focuses on practical ways physicians can implement trauma-informed strategies in their practice. During this webinar, Dr. Sheela Raja provides an overview of the prevalence of traumatic events and how trauma history may impact engagement in OB/GYN services and appointments. Dr. Raja then discusses the benefits of a universal trauma precautions approach, as well as the benefits, limitations, and considerations associated with trauma screening in OB/GYN settings. Dr. Raja also will provide actionable tips and strategies to sensitively interact with trauma survivors.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Describe how trauma can impact clients’ engagement in family planning services
  2. Identify principles of trauma-informed care
  3. Describe benefits and limitations associated with trauma screening
  4. Generate three universal precautions approaches to provide trauma-informed OB/GYN care
