In the book Compassionomics: The Revolutionary Scientific Evidence That Caring Makes a Difference, physician scientists Stephen Trzeciak and Anthony Mazzarelli present the data from a systematic review of almost 1000 studies, describing how compassion (for self and others) matters in healthcare.  In the presentation, Debra Disney will summarize the data and describe a couple simple practices for enhancing one’s own capacity for compassion.

Objectives: Participants will be able to:
• Define compassion and how it relates to and differs from sympathy, empath, and love
• Summarize 3 meaningful and measurable ways that compassion matters in healthcare
• Identify at least one practice that can be used to enhance one’s own capacity for compassion
