The American Heart Association’s (AHA) 2020 Guidelines addresses cardiac arrest in pregnancy by providing a published algorithm and pregnancy specific modifications for management.  A health care provider’s ability to react prudently in an unexpected situation is one of the most critical factors in creating a positive outcome in this obstetrical emergency.

To be presented by: Mary Ann Liner, APRN, CNP, Labor & Delivery Triage, OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, and Kaleb Jacobs, DO, Assistant Professors of Clinical OB/GYN, UICOMP

Objectives:
1. Understand the physiological changes of pregnancy that affect maternal resuscitation.
2. Describe the modifications in the 2020 American Heart Association algorithm for maternal cardiac arrest.
3. Understand why perimortem cesarean section is beneficial to maternal survival.
