Life of the Department

This talk turns to revolutionary forms of relationality to explore how revolutionary relationships encourage the development of political consciousness and offer an alternative to the hegemonic romance paradigm Doris Sommer describes in Foundational Fictions (1991). By focusing on nonfamilial notions of the nation, "Latinx Revolutionary Pedagogies" suggests that contemporary literature must revise national history and aesthetic form to open the way for more liberatory, literary futures

Dr. Renee Hudson is an assistant professor in the Department of English and director of Latinx and Latin American Studies at Chapman University. She specializes in hemispheric studies, multiethnic literature, speculative fiction, genre studies, and histories of revolution and resistance.
