Systems Thinking (2 hrs)

Systems thinking helps us make sense a complicated and uncertain world.  The principles can be applied to interpersonal relationships, business decisions, climate change and other complex issues.  In this workshop, participants will learn about key system thinking concepts through readings and videos by experts Dr. Peter Senge (MIT) and Dr. Derek Cabera (Cornell).  Participants will learn strategies to apply systems thinking, identify key terminology, and create a systems map of their own.

  • Identify key terminology in systems thinking (e.g. feedback, delay, loops, reinforcing/balancing loops).
  • Differentiate between detail and dynamic complexity and reinforcing and balancing feedback processes.
  • Define VUCA
  • Create a systems map
  • Apply systems thinking to current events and personal experiences

This workshop counts for 2-hours of leadership training for the leadership certificate.

Once you have completed the module an ILC staff member will review your responses and provide you documentation of completion.  Please allow 2 business days to receive a confirmation of completion.
