Graduate students are invited to explore how community-engaged research and leadership can strengthen their skills, expand their professional networks, and shape their future careers.
Current and former students Kelsi Walters (Social Work), Nikita Chigullapally (Carle Illinois College of Medicine), and Melany Romero (Community Health) will share how they became involved in community engagement, the opportunities and challenges they encountered, and how these experiences influenced their personal and professional growth.
Their faculty mentors, Kevin Tan, Margarita Teran-Garcia, and Sandraluz Lara-Cinisomo, will discuss how faculty can foster student agency and create opportunities for students to become leaders and change agents in their communities.
