Mayo Clinic & Illinois Alliance for Technology-Based Healthcare

Please join the Mayo Clinic & Illinois Alliance for Technology-Based Healthcare and Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute (IHSI) on Thursday, Sept. 3, from 3-5 p.m. in the Beckman Institute Atrium. We will celebrate the Illinois students who participated in the 2026 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF), Health Equity Research Experience (HERE), and Clinical Research Internship Study Program at Mayo Clinic. Light refreshments will be served.

This year's cohort includes 18 students from the College of Applied Health Sciences, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, and The Grainger College of Engineering, representing the Departments of Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, Marketing, Materials Science and Engineering, Molecular & Cellular Biology, Neural Engineering, Neurosciences, Psychology, Spanish, and Statistics.

For 10 weeks this summer, these outstanding undergraduates joined the research and culture of a major medical center, working with world-class Mayo Clinic faculty on research projects and as part of ongoing investigations. Through their experiences in laboratories, clinical research settings, and healthcare environments, they explored careers in biomedical research, health equity, and clinical investigation while gaining hands-on experience.

During the poster session, you will have the opportunity to meet these student researchers, learn more about their projects and experiences, and hear how this unique opportunity has influenced their academic interests and career aspirations. Following the poster session, we will recognize each student and celebrate their work and contributions over the summer.

Please register by Thursday, Aug. 27, to help us fully accommodate each guest during the event.
