This shared conversation will offer a situated perspective from the Colombian Caribbean, highlighting the deep interconnections between ecosystems and the communities that inhabit them. We will share experiences from research projects aimed at understanding ecological and social vulnerability in coastal, riverine, and insular territories, and at strengthening community resilience in the face of climate change and structural inequalities.

Through concrete cases, such as mangrove restoration, risk management in insular ecosystems, and the integration of ancestral knowledge in water governance, we will show how projects become spaces for co-creation between science, technology, and local knowledge. This dialogue invites reflection on sustainability from the lenses of environmental justice, gender equity, and territorial peacebuilding.

Objective: To reflect on the relationships between ecosystems, communities, and knowledge, demonstrating how applied research and Global South epistemologies contribute to socio-environmental resilience, sustainability, and equity in contexts of high vulnerability.

Duration: 1 hr (talk including time for questions).
