UI BRAZILIAN JAZZ ENSEMBLE
The Brazilian Jazz Ensemble is a group formed by grads and undergrad students from the U of I.
It is an eleven-piece band with a rhythm section of piano, guitar, bass, drums, and percussion. A wind session of alto and tenor saxes, trumpet and trombone, and two singers.
In its repertoire there are famous bossa nova tunes and also samba classics, originals, clube da esquina and latin influenced ones provided by the great composer Joao Donato.
The group is directed by Prof. Chip McNeill, who also plays piano.
