Welcome to the CU Tango Music Festival, coming to Champaign-Urbana on April 29, 2023!

The CU Tango Music Festival returns with guest artists Maxfield Wollam-Fisher (cello), Matt McConahay (bass), Heyni Solera (bandoneon), and Sumi Lee (piano).

Offerings include multiple concerts, dance classes, and a free workshop for string and bass players to work with veteran tango musicians Maxfield Wollam-Fisher (cello) and Matt McConahay (bass) to explore the fundamentals of playing tango.

Bandoneonist Heyni Solera and tango cellist Maxfield Wollam-Fisher rejoin us from Washington, D.C. along with San Francisco-based tango pianist Sumi Lee, Indianpolis-based tango bassist Matt McConahay, and Chicago-based tango dance instructor Hernan Prieto for a day full of tango music and dance.
