Originating Calendar: CSAMES Events; In late 2018, Egypt began implementing an audacious reform project involving the digital transformation of secondary education. Located within a state-wide project to build a New Egyptian Republic, this project was also a major tenet of a New Education System essential for a New Egyptian Person. In this talk, I unpack the key changes in Egyptian secondary education, trace where they came from and why they were introduced, and critically inquire into their broader implications and (un)intended consequences.
