Dr. Trinidad Rico, Visiting Professor and Director of Heritage Conservation at the University of Southern California, will be hosted on campus by the Department of Physics.

In the 1950s, Argentina spent considerable resources to join the nuclear era, recruiting a German scientist to deliver nuclear fusion in a secret lab on the remote island Huemul. It was dismantled a few years later. This lecture, titled "Atomic Heritage, Secrecy, and Failure: The Huemul Atomic Project in Argentina," discusses the aftermath of a failed experiment, its legacies for a nuclear culture in Argentina, and the challenge of preserving nuclear heritage.

Hosted by: Department of Physics
