Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS)

This symposium will examine how culture moves and circulates: across space, time, material conditions, technologies and affects. A great diversity of areas/disciplines are represented in the program: Linguistics, cultural history, environmental studies, sociology, medieval and early modern literatures, anthropology, medical humanities, migration studies, and communication studies, among others.

Plenary lecture by Jorge Cañízares-Esguerra, Alice Drysdale Sheffield Professor of History, The University of Texas at Austin. "New culture? The 16th century Radical Spanish Empire in the Indies". Friday, October 29, 4:00-5:15 pm.
