IGI International Music & Dance

  • Luciano Antonio, Brazilian musician. His performance takes the audience on a tour of Brazil by presenting a wide variety of Brazilian compositions combined with his own originals. In his Performance Luciano contrasts songs that have rich and complex harmonies and melodies with simple rhythms against songs that have simple harmonies and melodies with very complex rhythms, and the dynamics range from pure solo guitar and voice to the full sound of the rich Brazilian percussion in a fascinating musical way.
  • The Illinois Flamenco-Jazz Collective (IFJC) will be presenting pre-recorded videos of Sevillanas de Triana and Tangos de Graná. Our guest artists guitarist David Chiriboga and dancer Mia Angela de Lourdes “La Malou” will be featured thanks to the Global Intersections Grant funded by the Center for Global Studies and the European Union Center. The music will be followed by a brief informational and Q&A session with IFJC student leaders Alyssa Teijeiro-Ficht (dance) and Brian Stark (music).
