Programmable quantum circuits with arrays of 171Yb nuclear spins
Abstract: Neutral atom arrays have seen increasing attention and development as a platform for quantum information science. Neutral 171Yb is emerging as a promising system for quantum computing due to its long-lived I = 1/2 nuclear spin and metastable "optical clock" states. Its level structure also features a strong transition in the telecom frequency band, which enables entanglement distribution over long distances and provides a way toward large-scale quantum networks comprising diverse hardware. In this talk, I will give a broad overview of the neutral atom array platform and the features of 171Yb that make it an excellent choice for distributed quantum computing. Finally, I will present recent progress and preliminary results from our apparatus in the Covey lab.
