Title: "Attentional mechanisms coordinate network dynamics during sensory guided behavior."
Speaker: Howard J. Gritton, Assistant Professor of Neuroscience, Department of Comparative Biosciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Cognitive processes can have profound effects on sensory experience. Dr. Gritton will discuss his team's recent electrophysiology findings revealing that prefrontal cortex is highly sensitive to behavioral errors when task rules are updated. Dr. Gritton will also provide evidence that this engagement leads to rapid plasticity in sensory cortices altering perceptual performance.
