Physics - Saturday Physics for Everyone

Almost everyone has aluminum foil in their house. But did you know that if you cool down aluminum foil, it will start to exhibit quantum properties that we can use to build a new type of computer? In this talk, I will discuss what a quantum computer is and what it can do. Then I will share the amazing properties of aluminum when it is cooled down to temperatures below 1 Kelvin (colder than space!). Finally, we will explore how scientists around the world are using aluminum-based devices to make the basic building blocks of a quantum computer.
