Please join us on Tuesday, April 26 at 12:00 PM in 2405 Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science for the Distinguished Alumni Panel! Joining us will be this year's CS Alumni Award winners Carol Craig, Jing Gao, Ulku Rowe, and Jerry Talton, who will engage in a Q&A panel led by CS student leadership. Lunch from Papa Del's Pizza will be provided.

Meet our panel:

Carol Craig is the CEO of Sidus Space Inc. (NASDAQ: SIDU) and recently became the first female founder and owner of a space-based company to go public. She was one of the first women eligible to fly combat aircraft in the U.S. Navy and the first female aviator in her squadron serving as an active-duty P-3C Orion Naval Flight Officer. Prior to this, Ms. Craig built her namesake firm, Craig Technologies, into an aerospace and defense contracting company recognized throughout the U.S. government.  She earned a Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, followed by a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Jing Gao is an Associate Professor in the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University. Before joining Purdue, she was an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University at Buffalo. She is broadly interested in data and information analysis with a focus on data mining. She has taken leadership roles in the community, as shown in her editorship with ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology, and senior program committee membership in the top conferences in data mining. Prof Gao earned her PhD at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2011.

Ulku Rowe is the Engineering Director at Google Cloud’s Office of the CTO,  a team of industry ex-CTOs who are the world’s foremost experts on cloud computing, analytics, AI and machine learning. Before joining Google, Ms. Rowe was a Managing Director of Technology and CTO at J.P. Morgan Chase, and Bank of America. During her financial services career, she built technology platforms for trading & analytics, middle & back-office, risk management, and finance. She built and led global, diverse teams, and drove business transformation through technical innovation and leadership. She received her Masters degree in Computer Science from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Jerry Talton is the Chief Technology Officer at Carta, a $7.4 billion global financial software company. Prior to joining Carta in 2018, Mr. Talton managed Slack's first Machine Learning team in the Search, Learning, & Intelligence group in Manhattan, and was the founder and CEO of Apropose, a data-driven design startup backed by NEA and Andreessen Horowitz. He has done work with Intel, Adobe, and Nvidia, and his academic research has been cited more than a thousand times, and garnered several best paper awards and nominations. He earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, followed by a PhD from Stanford University.
