Showcasing the Exciting Medical Research and Innovation Taking Place at Carle Illinois College of Medicine and Carle Health.

Health Innovation Research Day (HIRD) will be held at the Illini Union on April 3, 2026, between 11:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. The conference is a celebration and exhibition of precisely what makes the partnership between the world's first engineering-based college of medicine and the Carle Health system unique.

We welcome anyone from our community - faculty, staff, students, and clinicians included - to register at no cost. Carle Health Residents and CI MED Students are invited to submit abstracts to be considered for one of two poster sessions and one of four oral presentation sessions.

Abstract Submission Deadline: Friday, March 6th, 11:59 P.M.
Announcement of Approved Abstracts: Tuesday, March 10th
Digital Poster Submission Deadline: Monday, March 23rd, 11:59 P.M. 

Abstracts will reflect the broad range of scholarly and biomedical impact in our ecosystem, from case reports and clinical research to engineering and public health. Submissions are also welcome from the range of innovation programs CI MED has built into the student experience, including the IDEA course, ORI's selective Research and Innovation Pathway Grant (RIPG), and recent participants in our Patient-Centered Health Make-A-Thon.
