Translational research can take many forms – ultimately using basic science techniques to address real bedside problems. Dr. Saguna Pappu will discuss the clinical research projects she has developed during her career, collaborating with engineers. She will also present project proposals in development with engineering labs at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Suguna Pappu is a board-certified neurosurgeon with several decades of clinical and research experience. She currently practices at Carle Health and serves as an associate professor in the Loyola University Chicago Department of Neurosurgery and at the Hines VA Hospital. Her research is translational with application of mathematical modeling techniques to neurophysiology and clinical outcomes. She has collaborated with quantitative researchers at Yale University, University of New Mexico and Loyola University Chicago. Her work is focused on defining quantitative models to be used in clinical decision-making.
