Join us to learn more about campuswide MakerSpace resources on Thursday, February 26 from 12 to 1 p.m. All Research Park events are free; however, registration is required to ensure that we have adequate seating and food for all participants.

The University of Illinois has more than ten maker spaces across campus — yet many operate independently, without a shared map of what's available or easy ways to connect. That's exactly what the new Maker Network is working to change. This session will map out the landscape of fabrication and making resources available across campus and the Central Illinois region, with a focus on what's most useful for Research Park startups and deep-tech companies.

Topics covered include:

  • EnterpriseWorks Makerspace — equipment, access, and training
  • Campus maker spaces: Siebel Center for Design, IDEA Lab, MechSE MakerWorks, CITL Innovation Studio, (dis)ability Design Studio, Illinois MakerLab, and more
  • University machine shops for precision and research-grade fabrication
  • Community and library maker spaces in Champaign-Urbana
  • The Central Illinois Fabrication & Innovation Network — connecting startups to regional resources
  • How Corporate Relations links making and innovation to industry partnerships

Whether you're looking to prototype a new product, find specialized equipment, or connect with the broader maker community, this session will help you navigate the resources available to you.

The university plans to capture photographs and video of this event. Be aware that if you attend, you are consenting to the possibility that your image and likeness may be shared or published by the university for marketing-communications purposes.
