Title:

Working Through a Data Model; A Case Study

Abstract:

After assessing our organization’s use case and making the choice to enter the big new world of big data in cloud, we are faced with our first major challenge; how to model and design the system. It is a new paradigm of a NoSQL database, in the cloud infrastructure, virtually unlimited storage and hugely available compute power. These new capabilities and new constraints means that our old modelling techniques don’t necessarily apply and we all must develop new skills to cope. One of the primary challenges we face is how to store the data. What kind of data model or schema should we use? How do we approach the problem? Designing a schema or developing a data model for NoSQL is a topic of immense debate.
