The lecture aims at urging designers to realize the substance of design - flying everyone to the moon. A few significant products and technologies developed at  Deka  Research  &  Development  
will  be  introduced  to  illustrate  how  true design can change the way we live.

Mr.  Sooshin  Choi  is  an  industrial  designer,  design  educator,  and  a  design influencer. He is currently Chief Design Officer & Executive Design Director at DEKA  Research  &  Development.  
Choi  has  18  years  of  automotive  design experience  at  General  Motors  Korea  and  Kia  Motors,  5  years  of  system furniture design at Fursys, and 3 years of innovative product design 
at DEKA Research and Development.

He  was  Provost   &  Vice  President  at  the  College  for  Creative  Studies  for  4 years.   He   has   taught   at   and   was   School   Director   at   the   University   of Cincinnati  for  
over  10  years  before  joining  CCS.  His  research  focus  includes innovation  by  design  and  inclusive  design.  He  has  led  innovative  design collaboration   projects   with   Procter   &  
 Gamble,   Samsung   Electronics,   LG Electronics, Hyundai Motors, Crown Equipment, Boeing Company, and Mead.

Choi  has  served  as  the  IDSA  Education  Vice  President  from  2012-2014  and the  Chair  for  the  IDSA  International  Conference  2016.  He  is  a  recipient  of prestigious awards such as IF 
Hannover, IDEA, Good Design Award as well as IDSA Educator of the Year in 2014. He was awarded the National Merit Medal
from Korean Government in 2018.
