When I first arrived at UIUC as a physics major, I felt overwhelmed because of the abundance of opportunities and pathways available to me. Though I saw that my friends were finding success in their own pathways, I was left confused and a bit lost as to how I find go about pursuing the opportunities available to me. In this talk, I distill advice that I wish I had coming into UIUC. From how to approach research opportunities, transitioning to industry, establishing credibility, and building a strong career, these are some of ideas and perspectives that might be useful to anyone starting out in their college journey.
